The Somerset Lady Jumpers were back at home on Tuesday, looking to split their district series against the Casey County Lady Rebels. The Jumpers got out to a 2-0 lead after the first two innings, but unfortunately couldn’t manage to keep that lead as they were outscored 5-0 over the next five innings en route to a 5-2 loss to the Rebels.
Maci Huff had the lone RBI for the Jumpers, with Reagan Childers managing three hits. Addy White had the loss on the mound, pitching all seven innings while allowing five runs (four earned) on 13 hits with four strikeouts.
Somerset falls to 6-7 on the season and 0-4 in district play and will be back at home on Thursday to take on Whitley County.
Maroons earn sweep of Rockcastle
The Pulaski County Maroons made the trip to Rockcastle County to take on the Rockets on Tuesday. Trying to earn a sweep of the district series, a massive six-run seventh inning propelled the Maroons to a 12-2 victory to earn the sweep.
Will Adams, Sebastian Guzman and Skylar Stringer each had two RBI’s in the win, with Kade Hargis, Levi Stykes and Kam Measel having one RBI apiece. Chase Farmer also added a hit, with Adams managing a stolen base. Carter Ross had the win on the mound, going four innings while allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit with four walks and seven strikeouts. Stykes pitched three innings in relief, allowing no runs on no hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Pulaski improves to 2-0 in district play and will next take on Knox Central at home on Thursday.
Lady Maroons split series with Rockets
The Pulaski County Lady Maroons were desperate to earn a series split against the Rockcastle County Lady Rockets on the road on Tuesday and were able to battle out a tough win 5-3.
Shelbie Sellers, Maggie Gregory, Ryann Sowder and Novaleigh Baker each had one RBI apiece in the win, with Kynslie Crabtree, Bella Ellis, Claire Hamilton and Rilee Ross each adding one hit. Ellis started the game on the mound, going three innings while allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Gregory earned the win in relief, pitching four innings while allowing no runs on two hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Pulaski improves to 5-8 and 1-1 in district play, and will next travel to Wayne County on Thursday.
Warriors run rule McCreary
The Southwestern Lady Warriors, playing in their first game in two weeks, took on the McCreary Central Lady Raiders at home on Tuesday. It was a show of force for the favorites in the 48th District, as they blew out their opponents 15-0 in just three innings of softball.
Kylie Dalton, Halle Norvell, Zoie Lowery, Arabella Lowery and Makenna New all had two RBI’s in the win, with Arabella Lowery, Zoie Lowery, Dalton and Macie Gwin each hitting one home run. Gwin, Brynn Troxell and Abigail Whitescarver each had one RBI, while Whitescarver, Chloe Carroll and Dalton each had a stolen base. Jayla Singleton earned the win on the mound, going two innings while allowing no runs on no hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Whitescarver closed out the game, pitching the final inning while allowing no hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Southwestern improves to 6-4 and 1-0 in district play, and will next travel to Estill County on Thursday.
Southwestern takes down Wayne in extra innings
The Southwestern Warriors were attempting to snap a five-game skid on Tuesday as they welcomed in the Wayne County Cardinals. In a game that ultimately went 12 innings an error on a hit from Clifton Sawyers scored Jackson Couch with the bases loaded scored the game-winning run in a 2-1 victory for Southwestern.
Sawyers and Jayce Gager each had one RBI to lead the Warriors. Jonas Gallagher and Michael Miller each had two hits, with Couch, Chandler Taylor and Pierce Jasper each adding one hit apiece. Reno Scott had two stolen bases during the game. Miller started the game and went six innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit with four walks and two strikeouts. Gallagher earned the win, going six innings in relief while allowing just one hit with four walks and four strikeouts.

Cougars swept by McCreary Central
The Somerset Christian Cougars were shut out in their first game against McCreary Central, but were determined to not suffer the same fate in game two at home. They weren’t able to keep up with the offense of the Raiders though, as they ultimately fell 13-6.
Gavin Lewis had three RBI’s in the loss, with Collier Helton and Isaiah Hensley each adding one apiece. Will Robinson had two hits as well, with Jackson Case, Trey Hogan and Conrad Martin each adding one apiece. Hensley and Robinson had three stolen bases apiece, Lewis and Case each had two and Helton, Martin and Hogan each had one. Case earned the loss on the mound, going all seven innings while allowing 13 runs (four earned) on seven hits with three walks and seven strikeouts.
