Rory McIlroy won’t be at Trump National Doral near Miami this week for the PGA Tour’s Cadillac Championship. But along with his wife Erica, McIlroy was among the guests at Trump's White House State Dinner for England’s King Charles III on Tuesday night.

McIlroy won the Masters earlier in April for the second straight time, and has skipped the Tour’s next three events as part of an extended break, including the Tour’s return to Doral for the first time since 2016 for a newly created signature event.

Trump mentioned McIlroy and his success at Augusta National in the Masters. In the middle of his speech, the U.S. President digressed for a moment as he said, “That was unconquerable courage.”At that point, Trump paused and gave a nod to McIlroy, who was given a round of applause by his fellow dinner guests.

"That was unconquerable courage. That was very good, Rory," Trump began.“Where is Rory McIlroy, can you stand up please?” Trump said. “I don’t know if that helps them talk about how wonderful my speech is but I had to interrupt my speech because I watched that man win a tournament that was a tough, that was a tough one. Congratulations very proud of you. Now I’ll get back to my speech, all right.”
