Former Purdue football star Rondale Moore died of a self-inflicted gunshot, according to results of a death investigation by New Albany police.

Moore, 25, was found dead in the garage of a New Albany home on Saturday. New Albany police Chief Todd Bailey said then the fatal injuries appeared to have been self-inflicted.

"Our investigation determined Rondale Moore died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound," Bailey said in a written response to USA Today. "Due to consideration for Moore's family we are not releasing specific case information."

Moore, a New Albany native who also played at Louisville Trinity High School, earned All-America honors as a Purdue freshman. He left after three seasons and was a second-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2021 NFL Draft.

He played 39 games over three seasons, but had not played since 2023 due to multiple season-ending injuries. Moore also spent time with the Altanta Falcons and was a member of the Minnesota Vikings at the time of his death.
