Roman Josi scores goal, assist in Switzerland's win over Czech Republic at Olympics

Nashville Predators captain Roman Josi has led Switzerland to a second-place finish in the men's hockey preliminary round at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy.

Josi scored a goal and an assist in Switzerland's 4-3 overtime win over Czech Republic on Feb. 15. The win gives Switzerland five points in Group A, clinching second place behind Canada. Switzerland previously beat France 4-0 on Feb. 12 and lost 5-1 to Canada on Feb. 13.

Josi now has three points in three games in his Olympics debut.

Switzerland will now enter the qualification round, a single-elimination tournament which begins on Feb. 17. The gold medal game is scheduled for Feb. 22.


Josi, 35, is in his 15th year in the NHL, but has been a constant presence for Switzerland's national team. Prior to these Olympics, played in 86 games for Switzerland, scoring 13 goals and 37 assists over nine years His last international appearance was at the IIHF's World Championship in 2024, where he led Switzerland to a silver medal.

The Predators have three other players in the Winter Olympics. Juuse Saros has started all three games for Finland, most recently a 11-0 win over Italy. Erik Haula also has three assists in three games for Finland. Filip Forsberg has played in all three games for Sweden, recording one assist.

Nashville (26-24-7, 59 points) will return from the Olympic break on Feb. 26 against the Chicago Blackhawks at Bridgestone Arena.
