Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly open to offers for Rodrigo Bentancur this summer, casting doubt over the Uruguayan international’s long-term future in North London as new manager Roberto De Zerbi accelerates a dramatic squad overhaul. Roberto De Zerbi is at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

When fit, the ‘fantastic’ 29-year-old midfielder has been a regular in Spurs’ midfield since joining from Juventus in January 2022. However, the landscape has shifted in recent weeks. Following the £85 million signing of West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes, who marked his unofficial debut with a spectacular long-range goal against MK Dons, and the marquee arrival of Sandro Tonali, competition for central midfield roles has reached an all-time high.

His absence from the squad tour gives Tottenham’s management an opportunity to evaluate incoming inquiries without immediate disruption. Several Italian clubs are reportedly monitoring the former Juventus star as they consider bringing him back to Serie A.

Tottenham’s willingness to entertain offers signals that no established star is immune to De Zerbi’s tactical evolution. Should a satisfactory offer materialise before the transfer window closes, Bentancur’s four-year spell in North London could come to an end.
