At a certain point in time, Michael Jordan was untouchable in record books. The Chicago Bulls legend was the most insanely talented player on the planet. Along with that acumen on the court, he notched a lot of All-NBA selection. However, it looks like one of his records will now get pushed back for Kevin Durant after the Houston Rockets star earned his flowers during the 2026 season.

Rockets' Durant usurps Bulls' Jordan after huge All-NBA win

Kevin Durant was just named to the All-NBA Second Team for the sixth time in his career. This adds to the Rockets star's lengthy resume that also includes six All-NBA First Team selections. When the numbers are added up, he has made a grand total of 12 All-NBA teams throughout his storied career.

Why is this such a big deal?

Well, it's because Durant now has 12 All-NBA selections which is one more than the 11 All-NBA honors that Michael Jordan got throughout his stay with the Bulls or even just in the league, per StatMuse.

Durant was a key contributor to the success of the Rockets during the 2025-26 season. Despite being 37 years old already, he was still balling out and toying with opposing defenses. This got him averages of 26 points while going 52% from the field and an insane 41.3% from three-point range. He was also able to grab 5.5 rebounds and drop 4.8 assists on a nightly basis in a span of 78 games. All of this is impressive given his age.

The most unfortunate thing about Durant's All-NBA selection was that the Rockets could not benefit off his production for the postseason. Coach Ime Udoka was only able to play his star veteran once in the playoffs due to left ankle bone bruise and a bruised right knee tendon. Even when he played in their series against the Lakers, the Rockets still could not muster up a win to keep their postseason hopes alive.

Unseating Jordan in All-NBA selections is big for Durant and his resume. Hopefully, he is able to keep up this level of performance so that the Rockets are able to win a Larry O'Brien trophy alongside him before his career ends.
