ELKHART LAKE – The Cheese Capital Cup, featuring Racing America's Trans Am and International GT series, is set to take place June 26-28 at Road America, according to a community announcement.
Fans can witness a variety of racing events, including the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli, International GT and Formula Race Promotions, as they compete on Road America's 4-mile, 14-turn circuit.
The Trans Am Series, which has been a part of American motorsports since 1966, has seen some of the sport's most respected names compete, including Mark Donohue, Tommy Kendall, Peter Gregg, Bob Tullius and Wally Dallenbach Jr. The series continues to feature powerful Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, Corvettes and other high-performance machines built for intense racing.
Trans Am races are 100 miles long and do not include mandatory pit stops for fuel, tires or driver changes, making every lap crucial. It is a direct competition between drivers from start to finish.
The event will also showcase the International GT, a North American series featuring late-model Porsche and Ferrari race cars. Formula Race Promotions will add variety to the weekend with F1600, F2000, F1000 and Atlantic Championship Series competitions.
One of the highlights of the weekend is the Cheese Capital Cup Concours in downtown Plymouth.
On June 26, Trans Am race cars will leave Road America's Gate 6 at 5:45 p.m. and travel under police escort to Stayer Park, arriving around 6 p.m. during the Plymouth Cheese Capital Festival.
Fans can see the cars up close, meet drivers and take photos before the cars return to Road America at 8 p.m.
The weekend will also feature grassroots racing at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex and surrounding areas.
The Road America Karting Club will race June 27 at the Motorplex, with more than 125 competitors expected.
June 28, the Road America Autocross Series will compete at the Motorplex and Turn 14 North Paddock.
Road America will offer various fan amenities throughout the event, including concessions, the Paddock Shop, tram service and the facility's free 18-hole disc golf course. Camping is available on-site, with more than 1,000 campsites throughout the property.
Children 16 and younger receive free general admission at the gate with a paying adult. Students can also save $10 off the ticket price at the gate with a current-year student ID. Racing will take place rain or shine.
