Real Madrid have confirmed that Fede Valverde has been ruled out of Sunday’s Clasico against Barcelona due to a head injury.

Reports on Thursday claimed that Valverde was injured in an altercation with team-mate Aurelien Tchouameni.

Madrid have confirmed disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the two stars and a further update has revealed Valverde will be out for upto two weeks.

Here’s the club’s official statement:

“After the tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a cranioencephalic trauma.

“Valverde is at home in good condition and will need to rest for 10 to 14 days, as indicated by medical protocols for this diagnosis.”

Striker Kylian Mbappe is also a doubt due to injury but has returned to training and may be available.
