Larry Fitzgerald Sr., father of Arizona Cardinals legend, dies


Larry Fitzgerald Sr., the father of Arizona Cardinals legendary wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald Jr., has died. He was 71.

Marcus Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald Jr.’s brother, shared the news on X, formerly known as Twitter.

He said Fitzgerald Sr. died Monday afternoon surrounded by his family and “the people who loved him the most.”

Fitzgerald Sr. was a sportswriter for the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder.

Wonder if Marcus will demand he read the eulogy…

So sad... my dad and I were just talking about going to Fitz's retirement ceremony for our birthdays today. My dad's only two years younger than Fitzgerald Sr.

Makes one realize how short life is. (Sorry I'm waxing poetic, the dog I spent all of my 20s living with is being put down tomorrow too. Sheesh.)

It's incredibly sad but the silver lining is that his dad knew that Larry was a hall of famer.
Fitz can take some solace from that.
