Super Bowl LX has reignited debate around individual awards from the NFL season.
Performances on the biggest stage often shape how players are viewed in a wider context.
Former Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has now added his voice to that discussion.
Sherman shared his perspective publicly on what the Super Bowl showed and how the season should be remembered.
Richard Sherman says Matthew Stafford deserved MVP over Drake Maye
Sherman argued that the Super Bowl provided clear evidence in the NFL Most Valuable Player debate.
He compared Matthew Stafford’s performance to the difficulties faced by Drake Maye against the same defense.
“So when the MVP arguments are had. This tape should end that discussion,” Sherman said.
“Stafford put on a master class against this same defense that Maye has 18 yards against currently with 7:34 left in the 3rd Q.”
Sherman was careful to credit Maye’s overall season while still making his position clear.
“He has had a great season and will have an MVP in his future, but it was Stafford’s year,” Sherman added.
He also pointed to the broader offensive issues. “Pats have zero answers for this Seahawks Defense. Even when Maye has time, he has nowhere to go with the ball.”

Richard Sherman praises Seattle Seahawks defense after Super Bowl showing
Sherman also used the moment to highlight Seattle’s defensive performance.
He suggested that the way the unit played would prove valuable beyond the result of the game itself.
“This game may not be exciting to some, but this film will be studied by every team trying to mimic what this Seahawks Defense is doing,” Sherman claimed. “Great defensive football is art!”
His comments positioned the Seahawks’ defense as a central talking point from the Super Bowl.
