Spending the last two seasons on the Oklahoma City Thunder, Malevy Leons has seen his hard work pay off. The Golden State Warriors have reportedly signed him to a two-way deal, per NBA insider Marc Stein.
Leons has had a unique basketball journey to get to this point. He played overseas in the Dutch Basketball League before moving overseas. He spent a couple of years at the JUCO level before transferring to Bradley.
Going undrafted in 2024, the Thunder signed Leons. He had a cup of coffee with them as he appeared in six NBA games during the 2024-25 regular season. For the most part, though, he's been a fixture on the OKC Blue and spent a couple of Summer League and preseason stints with OKC.
Leons played in 13 games with the Blue this season. He averaged 14.8 points on 51.3% shooting, 7.6 rebounds and three assists. He shot 43.8% from 3 on 2.7 attempts. The 26-year-old is a 6-foot-9, 210-pound forward with good physical tools.
For the Warriors, two-way players mean more to their NBA depth than most teams. Leons can help their frontcourt minutes throughout the season. As a reminder, two-way players are limited to 50 games during a season. Expect him to spend time with the G League's Santa Cruz Warriors as well.
To make room for Leons, the Warriors waived Alex Toohey from his two-way spot.
