The Philadelphia 76ers have made a hire to be the new voice of the basketball operations department. Bob Myers led the search to find a new voice and the team has decided to hire away Mike Gansey from the Cleveland Cavaliers to be the team’s new President of Basketball Operations.
Gansey has been the GM of the Cavaliers since 2022 and he enters a situation in Philadelphia to be the team’s new architect. He replaces Daryl Morey who was let go after six seasons at the helm in the City of Brotherly Love.
Bob Myers led the search and will look to work closely with Gansey. The Sixers have the No. 22 pick in the June 23 draft and will be looking to add to the roster as time moves on.
Gansey will take over a Sixers team that had a ton of potential. Led by Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe in the new era alongside Joel Embiid and Paul George, he’ll be expected to add to the roster to climb the ladder in the Eastern Conference.
