Report: Real Madrid ready to pay £90 million for ‘important’ Man United star

There is nothing consistent at Manchester United apart from the performances of club captain Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese midfielder has once again been the outstanding player for the Red Devils this season.

The 30-year-old has scored 16 goals and provided 16 assists this season in 41 appearances for the Premier League giants.

Despite the inconsistency of players around him, Fernandes has still managed to play at a higher level than his teammates this season.

It is natural that with United performing poorly and Fernandes shining, clubs across Europe would be interest in saving the midfielder from the mediocrity at Old Trafford.

The Daily Star reports that representatives from the Champions League holders have been observing Fernandes during Manchester United’s recent matches.

The La Liga giants are reportedly considering a £90million move to bring him to the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid are searching for a suitable replacement for Luka Modric and have identified the 30-year-old as a potential candidate, having scouted him throughout this season.

Fernandes’ leadership, vision, and goal contributions make him an appealing option for Los Blancos, who are always looking to add world-class talent to their squad.

This comes despite Amorim’s apparent determination to retain his star player.

While the manager has not hesitated to make tough decisions since taking over in November, Fernandes has remained a key figure.

There has been criticism of Fernandes from former captain Roy Keane but Amorim has defended the player.

He said, as reported by the official Man United website: “Bruno is really important for us in the club, especially for me.

“He’s playing well in a difficult context, he wants always the responsibility.

“I know sometimes as a captain, he does things like with his arms and sometimes you see it like criticising the team-mates. I think, most of all, it is a lot of frustration for this year, in the last year and the others.”

United can simply not afford to lose Fernandes because of his importance and his contribution at the club.

He is the most consistent United player in the last decade and his record speaks for himself.
