One of Serie A’s biggest clubs that will be playing in a European competition other than the Champions League next season made news on Friday for a big-money deal for a want-away striker that is currently employed by the best club currently in Europe, Paris Saint-Germain.

It wasn’t Juventus. It was AC Milan reportedly signing Goncalo Ramos for a whopping €74 million (plus add-ons).

But it also showed that PSG, the two-time defending Champions League winners, are holding firm to their guns and their asking price is going to fly and nothing less may actually be accepted.

We say all of this because IlBianconero’s Romeo Agresti reported on his YouTube channel on Friday that Paris Saint-Germain’s asking price for the striker that Juventus (again) want to sign from the European champions has not changed from the rumbling of what we first hear a few days earlier. That means Randal Kolo Muani, for all of his desire to return to Juventus, will have to see if new club CEO Giovanni Carnevali is willing to pay PSG’s demands of a €40 million price tag to make the move happen.

Carnevali has been in contact with PSG for much of the past few days, according to multiple reports, and has given the same kind of deal that the man he replaced, Damien Comolli, was trying to make happen last summer: a loan with obligation to buy, according to Agresti, albeit this time at a lower cost than 12 months ago.

Those negotiations, as we are all well aware of, didn’t turn out all that well. For the entire summer Comolli tried and tried and tried to bring Kolo Muani back to Turin. And no matter if it was before the Club World Cup or well after it, every time Comolli tried to get something done, Paris Saint-Germain was just dug in and not giving in to their demands. Comolli, in one of his better moments during his 12 months at Juventus, didn’t give in as the price to bring Kolo Muani back to Juventus reportedly got upward of €60 million when it would have been all said and done.

This summer, the price isn’t that high. But it’s still a big investment.

Juventus and Kolo Muani have reportedly agreed to personal terms on a five-year contract if he does make his desired move a reality this summer. We don’t know how much the salary will actually be just yet, but it’s safe to assume that it will be one of the highest salaries Juventus pay next season if Kolo Muani does sign from PSG.

It ain’t going to be cheap — and we’re going to eventually find out just how much Carnevali is willing to invest in a striker that clearly wants to be a Juventus once again.
