Crossing off an important milestone this summer, the Oklahoma City Thunder will continue to roster Lu Dort — at least for right now. They have picked up his 2026-27 $17.7 million team option, per ESPN's Shams Charania. The deadline to make a decision was Monday.

It shouldn't be a shocker to see the Thunder pick up Dort's option. He's entering the last year of his contract. Now, whether he actually starts and finishes the 2026-27 season in OKC is a completely different story. They could still shop the 27-year-old around and deal him this offseason.

It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the summer plays out. The Thunder could theoretically get under the second apron if they trade away Dort. And with Cason Wallace waiting in the wings for both more opportunities on the court and a contract extension, it makes basketball sense to move on.

After helping the Thunder win an NBA championship, Dort regressed across the board last season. He averaged 8.3 points on 38.5% shooting, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists. He shot 34.4% from 3 on 5.4 attempts. The one-on-one defense also dulled out a bit. By the end of the NBA playoffs, his playing time slowly eroded.
