Since the end of last season, the Jonathan Kuminga saga with the Golden State Warriors has taken a flurry of twists and turns, including an offseason trade stalemate, multiple trade rumours, DNPs and more. Thursday marked the next stage of Kuminga's run with the Warriors.
After signing a new two-year, $46.8 million contract with the Warriors late in the offseason, Jan. 15 marked the first day Kuminga was eligible to be traded. On Thursday, Kuminga reportedly wants out of Golden State.
According to Shams Charanai of ESPN, Kuminga has demanded a trade away from the Warriors.
Kuminga has not played in 13 straight games for the Warriors, receiving DNPs from Steve Kerr after falling out of the rotation. To start the season, the fifth-year forward started the first 12 games of the season, scoring in double figures in seven of those contests.
Kuminga is averaging 11.8 points on 43.1% shooting from the field and 32% from beyond the arc to go along with 6.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 18 games.
With Kuminga now eligible to be traded, the Warriors will have until Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. ET to make a trade at the 2026 deadline.
