Conor McGregor spent the last few years bragging about his “big fridge” physique and how “quality Irish produce” helped transform him into “190 pounds of granite.” He left out the part about anabolic steroids and human growth hormone (HGH), according to a new report from NY Times.
Yes, the same publication that went after him for performance enhancing drug (PED) use back in June.
Sounds like Jose Aldo wasn’t the only one with spies in his camp.
McGregor, who turns 38 in just a few days, makes his Octagon return against Max Holloway atop the UFC 329 fight card on Sat. night (July 11) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Prior to the booking, “Notorious” served a whereabouts suspension for violating the promotion’s drug testing program.
There was also his war with United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) back in 2023.
“I think it’s a guy trying to make something out of nothing,” manager Audie Attar told Ariel Helwani. “We followed all the testing procedures, and Conor’s been tested about 15 times this year. We’ve done everything right and clearly, it’s a hit job. Either a hit job on us, or on the UFC. We have our suspicions on the parties, if you will, but look at the timing when it all happens. They’re talking about stuff from five years ago, right before the White House event, and right before the McGregor return. We live in that age. Sometimes you just have to set the record straight, and I appreciate Hunter Campbell and the UFC doing the same.”
McGregor (22-6), who also admitted to cocaine use out of competition, has never failed a drug test in his UFC career.
