Report: Arsenal one of two clubs set to reignite interest in Chelsea star this summer

Arsenal and Bayern Munich are set to reignite their interest in Christopher Nkunku this summer according to reports in France.

The Blues are gearing up for another busy window and could look to fund their business by selling as many as seven or eight players.

Chelsea face a critical summer with the club looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Arsenal interested in Nkunku

The Blues have a number of players they can sell to raise funds, with Nkunku falling into that category after a disappointing campaign.

The 27-year-old has really struggled this season and simply hasn’t lived up to expectation following his £52m from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023.

Nkunku doesn’t suit Maresca’s system, but he also hasn’t done anywhere near enough with the opportunities he’s been given.

The France international was left out of the squad against Fulham in favour of Tyrique George, and he’s increasingly likely to leave the club this summer.

French outlet RMC Sport have reported that both Arsenal and Bayern Munich are set to reignite their January interest in Nkunku.

Nkunku has been criticised for his performances this season, although he is the club’s joint top scorer with 14 goals, but only three of those have come in the Premier League.

The Frenchman could be available for as little as £35m, and it would seem clear Chelsea will need to reduce their £65m asking price they set in January.

Injuries have also played a part in Nkunku’s time at Stamford Bridge, but the move has really been nothing short of a disaster for all involved.

Nkunku returned to the squad for Saturday’s win against Everton, but was an unused substitute and it’s now hard to imagine him playing much of a role over the remainder of the season as Chelsea look to qualify for the Champions League and win the Conference League.
