The San Francisco 49ers are doing their homework on some of the best offensive linemen in the 2026 NFL draft.
After hosting Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, the 49ers are also reportedly meeting with Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu, both according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
As Rapoport noted, Lomu is a potential trade-up target for the 49ers if they are targeting him with their No. 27 pick. Lomu has been mocked all over the first round to teams, so the 49ers might not have the luxury of waiting to see if he falls to them at the end of the round.
This and the Proctor news are intriguing, given the report that the 49ers weren't prioritizing offensive line in the first round. It could just due diligence on the part of general manager John Lynch, or perhaps the 49ers are hedging their bets if the board doesn't fall their way for other positions like receiver or edge rusher.
An additional element to consider is the future of Trent Williams. If the 49ers are looking at offensive tackles now, perhaps Williams' future with the team isn't as stable as some are led to believe after his reported contract disputes.
We'll find out for sure in a week.

Utah OL Caleb Lomu spent last night with the #49ers (27th) on a Top 30 visit, as SF continues to do work on the top OLs. Imagine Lomu is a possible be a trade-up target.
