ESPN named X factors for every top-25 college football team for the 2026 season. For the Georgia Bulldogs, it was wide receiver Talyn Taylor.
Taylor is currently a redshirt freshman, and last season he appeared in six games against Marshall, Austin Peay, Tennessee, Alabama (twice), and Mississippi. He caught two passes for 28 yards against Austin Peay in Week 2. With the departure of Zachariah Branch, who was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 2026 NFL draft, and Colby Young, who was selected in the fourth round by the Cincinnati Bengals, Taylor has a chance to make more of an impact on the offense this year.
Georgia lost six of its seven leading pass catchers from last season. The Bulldogs need someone to step up and ESPN thinks that Taylor could be the next wide receiver to make some noise for Georgia.
Taylor did sustain an upper-body injury last year that reportedly required surgery. Taylor did participate in spring practice. Taylor has a lot of talent and upside, standing at six feet and weighing 190 pounds. The Bulldogs could use an outside wideout that's a downfield threat. He could be a prime target for quarterback Gunner Stockton. Taylor is a former four-star recruit in the class of 2025 and has a lot of talent.
The Bulldogs will start the season against Tennessee State at home on September 5th.
"As a senior in high school, he netted nearly 2,200 all-purpose yards, and his speed could help fill a major void left by the departing Zachariah Branch," David Hale of ESPN wrote about Taylor. "Still, for all the obvious buzz, Taylor has a lot left to prove, and Georgia's other options at receiver are no more established. A breakout year from Taylor could be a game changer for the Dawgs' offense. But if he still has a few growing pains to work through, the pressure will be on Mike Bobo, Gunner Stockton & Co. to find ways to get the ball downfield -- something they didn't always do well a year ago."
