Two Georgia Bulldogs have been named to the Maxwell Award preseason watch list. Star quarterback Gunner Stockton was listed in addition to Bulldogs’ running back Nate Frazier.
Both Stockton and Frazier will enter the 2026 season as two of the top offensive players in the nation. Stockton was excellent as the Dawgs’ starter last season following the departure of Carson Beck, while Frazier has been a major weapon in Georgia’s backfield since 2024. Each player has the potential to emerge as a favorite for the Maxwell Award over the course of the season, and the duo will enter the year as two of the well-respected players in the nation.
Stockton recorded 2,894 passing yards and 24 passing touchdowns last season, while Frazier was credited with 947 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Both Stockton and Frazier are expected to be mid-round selections during the 2027 NFL Draft next April, and each player is a prime candidate to win the Maxwell Award at the conclusion of the 2026 season.
Georgia has had two total players win the Maxwell Award throughout school history. Former Bulldog Charley Trippi won the award in 1946, while legendary Georgia running back Hershel Walker was named as the Maxwell Award winner at the end of the 1982 season.
