The Boston Red Sox have many new faces this year after their busy offseason, including All-Stars Willson Contreras and Ranger Suarez.

While they've only been teammates a few months, they already seem to be good friends, which isn't surprising given that they have a similar background coming from Venezuela.

Contreras recently turned 34th on May 13, and Suarez got him a fantastic present. In honor of Contreras' first name, Suarez got him a replica "Wilson" volleyball from the iconic Tom Hanks movie Cast Away.

Contreras posted a picture of the volleyball in his locker to his Instagram story on Tuesday with the caption "Gracias por mi regalo de cumpleaños hermano," which translates to "Thank you for my birthday gift brother."

He also tagged Suarez in the caption and included a laughing/crying emoji.

Given the Red Sox's struggles on the field this season, it's encouraging to see that the players are still close and building bonds off the field. Baseball players like to be silly with each other, and it's good that they're doing things to lighten the mood and keep their spirits up.

Suarez's birthday isn't until Aug. 26, so it will be interesting to see if Contreras gets him anything in return.
