Willson Contreras has put together the most prodigious season of his career so far.
That earned the Boston Red Sox slugger a rightful spot in the 2026 MLB Home Run Derby.
It takes place Monday night, and Contreras is one of eight competitors trying to take the championship.
It'll be the first time in a Home Run Derby for Contreras, which means he had to choose his pitcher for the event.

Who's pitching to Willson Contreras?
The pitcher for Contreras in the Home Run Derby is the Red Sox interim bench coach, Jose David Flores.
Flores was first base coach at the start of the season, but when the Red Sox made staffing changes, he became the bench coach for interim manager Chad Tracy.
Why is Jose David Flores pitching to Willson Contreras?
According to MLB.com, Flores and Contreras have known each other since Contreras was in the minor leagues in the Chicago Cubs' system in 2013.
Contreras said, via MLB.com, that Flores is one of the best batting practice pitchers "I've had in my life," and that Flores works at a good pace.
“I’ve known Willson since he was a puppy," Flores said, via MLB.com. "I’ll try to throw cookies and hopefully put them on the barrel and he gets into a good rhythm and it’s all about good rhythm. Seeing the success he's had this season both offensively and defensively makes me extremely proud, and hopefully, I’ll put him in a good position to succeed and be one of those finalists in the Derby.”
No matter what happens, it's a cool chance to bring a relationship of more than a decade onto a national stage like this.
