Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers
The Boston Red Sox ended the first half on a high note and could actually be buyers at the trade deadline. Adding a catcher may be on Craig Breslow's to-do list.
Carlos Narváez has a .524 OPS this season, but thankfully, Connor Wong has bounced back and is playing well. However, adding another option to catch or serve as a designated hitter could be wise, and Ryan Jeffers could be the perfect rental target.
Jeffers just made his return from the injured list and will be a free agent after the season. He has a .942 OPS on the season, and would be an upgrade over both of the Red Sox's current options. Additionally, the Red Sox could actually hurt the New York Yankees by acquiring him.

According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Yankees are interested in adding a catcher and have their eyes on Jeffers. The Red Sox are still far behind the Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays in the division race, but adding Jeffers could kill two birds with one stone. Jeffers is expected to be the best catcher on the market this trade deadline, and the Red Sox could really make a late push in the American League Central if they got him.
Even if the Red Sox do not win the division, having Jeffers in the lineup while Roman Anthony is out could help with the power drought. He has seven homers in 29 games this season. That would rank him sixth on the Red Sox despite his missing nearly two months.
