BOSTON — The Red Sox-Orioles game on Tuesday has been postponed due to rain and expected thunderstorms.

It was rescheduled as the first game of a day-night doubleheader on Wednesday.

Game 1 will start at 1:35 p.m. Game 2 will start at 7:10 p.m.

Red Sox lefty Jake Bennett (5-3, 2.35 ERA) will start the first game opposite Orioles righty Dean Kremer (1-2, 4.15 ERA).

Boston has not yet decided who will start the second game. Kyle Bradish (6-9, 3.61 ERA) will start for Baltimore in Game 2.

Interim manager Chad Tracy did not rule out Ranger Suarez potentially being activated from the IL to start the second game.

“Could be that’s why we’re making it TBD,” Tracy said. “We’ve just gotta wait and see how he feels tomorrow.”

The initial plan was to reinstate Suarez from the 15-day injured list to make the start Tuesday. But the team announced at around 12:40 p.m. that rookie Eduardo Rivera would start instead. With Tuesday’s game postponed, Rivera could be an option for Game 2 if Suarez isn’t ready.

Tracy said there’s “nothing serious” going on with Suarez who hasn’t pitched since July 5 due to a left groin strain.

“Just a little bit of moderate soreness just from all the work over the last couple of days,” Tracy said. “Also wasn’t feeling very well. A little under the weather on top of it. Between those two things combined, having him go out there and activating him didn’t make any sense.”

Boston will try to make history in the first game Wednesday when it goes for its 15th straight victory. It would tie the franchise-record for most consecutive wins. The 1946 Red Sox won 15 in a row from April 25 through May 10 of that season.
