Is there such a thing as too much young pitching?

The Boston Red Sox currently have two rookie pitchers in their starting rotation. They've also got 27-year-old Brayan Bello, who made his debut much younger than most, pitching every fifth day.

There simply is not room for another arm in the Red Sox rotation. But that doesn't stop us from keeping an eye on our pitching prospects throughout the minor league ranks.

One prospect in particular has been stealing headlines all season long: Anthony Eyanson.

The Red Sox drafted Eyanson with the 87th overall selection in the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft.

Eyanson made five starts for Boston's High-A affiliate in Greenville. He allowed just one run through more than 20 innings, earning him a call-up to join the Portland Sea Dogs.

He became the first player from the Red Sox's 2025 draft to reach Double-A.

Eyanson's dominance continued after he arrived in Portland.

He allowed just one run in his Double-A debut, and followed that up with a stellar five innings of hitless baseball in his second game. But Eyanson's stat line was blemished in his third-career Double-A outing when he allowed three runs in four innings.

He got back on track Tuesday night, shutting out the Hartford Yard Goats through five innings.

Eyanson now sports a 2.00 ERA in Double-A, allowing 11 hits and striking out 19 through four starts.
