The Oklahoma City Thunder held practice on Wednesday. They're enjoying another two-day break before they host the Los Angeles Lakers in a national TV matchup on Thursday. At 60-16, OKC continues to have a small lead for the first seed.
Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault and Aaron Wiggins talked to the media after practice. Daigneault explained that OKC's success is the reason why they've become the NBA's top villain. Wiggins campaigned for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to win the MVP award.
Elsewhere at the practice facility, Thomas Sorber experienced some innocuous rookie hazing. The Thunder filled up his ride with package peanuts. It's something OKC has done in recent years to first-year players. The 20-year-old joins the list.
Here's what else happened at OKC's Wednesday, Apr. 1 practice:
Aaron Wiggins on why SGA should win MVP: “You gotta look at the body of work. Throughout the season, he’s carried us to victories. In the same sense, he’s been the most clutch player in the NBA. If you look at the body of work from this entire season… He’s the best player on the… pic.twitter.com/luoQTkx385

Aaron Wiggins on OKC getting everybody’s best shot: “I think we’ve seen every team take our game with a serious approach. There’s the conversation of tanking and stuff like that. Aaron Wiggins on Jared McCain’s time in OKC: “He’s a special kid… Having been in the league a couple of years now and seeing him in his 2nd year, it’s a lot of energy. He fits right in with the team because of his personality and being outgoing.” pic.twitter.com/eJlbiKgEgK

Aaron Wiggins on their mindset for the rest of the regular season: “Having guys fully healthy, just being able to find a rhythm and a flow into the postseason. You can’t take these last weeks lightly. There’s an opportunity in front of us to really test ourselves.” pic.twitter.com/uB4aVbkZUG

Aaron Wiggins on SGA’s clutch-time play: “I think it’s almost secondhand nature for him at this point. He’s done it for so many years and been in situations… He’s been big time for us pulling out wins… Some of these, he’s really pulling out on his own and we’re behind him.” pic.twitter.com/UEMS6k1xOU

Mark Daigneault on the Thunder being villains: “What I'd say is we have had consistent success for a few years now, including the championship last year. If you look at the history of the NBA, there's things that come with the territory of that.” pic.twitter.com/AzfU0eNo00

Mark Daigneault on SGA ignoring the hate OKC gets: “He's obviously at the center of a lot of the narratives and a lot of things, and rightfully so. He's the MVP of the league. The reigning MVP of the league. He's done a masterful and graceful job. It shows tremendous poise.” pic.twitter.com/f9OppRMxIR

Mark Daigneault on Nikola Topic’s G League experience: “He’s been able to show everybody why he has the reputation he does as a player. He's a really good player. Mark Daigneault on Mike Budenholzer recently visiting OKC: “He and Sam worked together in San Antonio. There was a previous relationship there. Sam invited him in.
