Real Madrid heading after second Manchester City centre-back after Gvardiol

When Real Madrid make it known that they have a vacancy in their squad, it does not take long for the best names in the world to find themselves linked. After all, the train to Madrid does not pass many times in a player’s career.

With word spreading that Los Blancos are looking for an elite centre-back, they have not taken long to be linked with some of the finest players in the position globally.

In Josko Gvardiol, Nico Schlotterbeck, Ibrahima Konate and Riccardo Calafiori, they have found some of the creme-de-la-creme as their targets.

Not all is bleak

With a contract in place until 2029, signing Dias will not be a simple operation for Real Madrid even if they have a massive wallet to back them. Manchester City, after all, are no minnows and will fight hard to keep him.

What will help Los Blancos, however, is the massive shift taking place at Manchester and the squad changes that inevitably come with it.

Pep Guardiola’s departure from the Premier League giants, however, hands Real Madrid serious hope as it sets up for a massive transformation at Dias’ current club with many players likely to leave with the manager marking the end of the current project.
