Real Madrid’s captaincy pecking order for next season revealed
The captaincy pecking order at La Liga giants Real Madrid for the season ahead has this week been revealed online.
This comes amid the understanding that new Blancos headmaster José Mourinho has made a final call on the leadership situation in his squad.
Following the departure of Dani Carvajal this summer, Mourinho was left to appoint a new member of Real’s ranks to take over the armband on a full-time basis moving forward.
And the Portuguese, according to Diario AS, has landed on last season’s vice-captain, Federico Valverde, as the chosen one.
Replacing midfielder Valverde as the stand-in captain in Spain’s capital, meanwhile, will be none other than Vinícius Jr. From here, Thibaut Courtois has been chosen as 3rd-choice, followed by sidelined attacker Rodrygo.
This information will be passed on to the playing squad at Real Madrid upon their respective returns for pre-season activities at Valdebebas over the weeks ahead.
