If the season ended today, Indiana men’s basketball would almost certainly be in the NCAA Tournament. But it doesn’t. So it isn’t.
The Hoosiers still have a reasonable amount of control over their own destiny with four games left in the regular season and the Big Ten Tournament after that. If Indiana doesn’t take care of business, starting tonight against Northwestern, then its tournament chances become a murkier.
Indiana’s resume has some solid wins, including at home against Purdue and on the road against UCLA. It also has some less than ideal losses, including blowouts in the last two games, which makes this four game season ending slate a get right opportunity ahead of postseason play.
