Where will former Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury land next? Washington mutually parted ways with Kingsbury after two seasons and promoted assistant quarterbacks coach David Blough to replace him.
Since leaving Washington, Kingsbury has taken multiple head coaching interviews. However, it doesn't appear that Kingsbury is a finalist for any of those jobs. He should not have any trouble landing another offensive coordinator job, though, and there could already be a favorite.
In an appearance on "The Herd," with Colin Cowherd, NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic said that Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson wants Kingsbury in Baltimore, as do his receivers.
When discussing who would be the Ravens' next head coach, Russini wondered whom Chargers' defensive coordinator Jesse Minter would hire if he landed the job. Russini then turned her attention to the Dolphins' defensive coordinator, Anthony Weaver.
"The plan for OC has to be there, Kliff Kingsbury is a name that's out there," Russini said. "I can tell you, I know for a fact, Lamar Jackson and those receivers would like Kliff Kingsbury to run their offense. They have shown support, they have been vocal about it. They've been part of some of these interviews. Lamar Jackson is part of these. He's zooming in, he's in touch with the decision-makers, of what he likes, who he's liked. We'll see how this shakes out, but I think that Anthony Weaver is one of those, again, I mentioned, that is going to be in the running for this job. And from what I understand, Kliff Kingsbury would be his OC."
Minter has been considered the front-runner by some, but it could come down to what Jackson wants. The Ravens fired John Harbaugh after 18 seasons, so the franchise quarterback will have significant input. Kingsbury would be the perfect offensive coordinator to match Jackson's style. He's proven over and over that his offense can function at the highest levels, especially with a dual-threat quarterback. Jackson is a multi-time MVP and almost certainly watched the magic Kingsbury made with Jayden Daniels in 2024.
There are concerns that Kingsbury's offensive style has a shelf life. But for a team in win-now contention, there may not be a better offensive coordinator pick than Kingsbury on the market. The Kingsbury-led offense was among the NFL's best in 2024, but fell off in 2025 due to injuries, including to Daniels. Yet, Kingsbury, dealing with two different backup quarterbacks, still managed to lead a top-15 unit.
