The Baltimore Ravens are continuing their commitment to youth health and wellness throughout Maryland.
The Ravens Foundation, Inc. awarded $100,000 in PLAY 60 grants to 14 nonprofit organizations serving children and families across the Greater Baltimore area. The program provides individual grants of up to $10,000 to support new or expanding initiatives promoting physical activity and nutrition education. Over the past 20 years, the Ravens Foundation has distributed more than $1.8 million through the PLAY 60 Grant program. The funding has supported athletic programs for students with disabilities, cooking and nutrition instruction, mentorship initiatives and other projects designed to help young people develop healthier lifestyles.
The latest recipients include Horizon Day Camp, which offers free summer camps, year-round programs and in-hospital recreational activities for children with cancer and their siblings. Special Olympics Maryland provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
Other recipients offer programs involving soccer, squash, running, tennis and additional recreational activities. The grants also support organizations that address pediatric health, education, mentorship, and social development through sports.
The PLAY 60 program is one component of the Ravens Foundation’s broader community work. The organization distributes more than $500,000 annually to local nonprofit groups through scholarships, youth sports grants, school renovations and neighborhood improvement projects.
Through PLAY 60, the Ravens continue to use their platform and resources to encourage physical activity, improve access to youth programming, and support healthier communities throughout Baltimore and Maryland.
