Baseball season is on fire right now, and fans can't get enough of America's favorite game. But humans aren't the only ones that enjoy the crowds and snacks; check out this seagull who caught a homerun when he scored a hot dog and bun at a recent Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley Field!
Yahoo Sports took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a photo from when the Cubs hosted the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday, April 20th, and fans were delighted to see the viral moment happen in real time. Griffin Quinn, a photographer for Getty, showcased a seagull in the right place at the right time. Fans called the photo one of the 'greatest pictures in sports history' during the MLB game. It shows a very lucky seagull that scored big when he quickly left the field holding a hot dog in his beak during the big game!
That is one happy seagull! Luckily, the bird didn't distract the teams, and they were able to play on without too much of an aviary distraction. Fans loved seeing the bird make away with a big win, although they were disappointed when the Diamondbacks beat the Cubs 3-2. It was a close game, though!
Commenters also got a kick out of Yahoo Sports' post. @james Knudson shared, "Nothing better than enjoying a hot dog at Wrigley Field, even if you are a seagull." @DaddyDocMN agreed and said simply, "God I love baseball."

What Seagulls Usually Eat (And It’s Not Hot Dogs!)
If you've ever been to the beach, you know that seagulls are scavengers and seem to be willing to beg and steal anything that you will give them. But according to Bird Fact, they eat a varied diet that doesn't only include junk food. Seagulls normally eat:
- Live fish and marine invertebrates captured from the water's surface
- Crustaceans, mollusks, and other beach-dwelling creatures
- Insects, earthworms, and other terrestrial invertebrates
- Small rodents and the eggs or chicks of other birds
- Berries, seeds, and agricultural crops when available
- Human food waste from beaches, parks, landfills, and fishing vessels
