The Raptors acquired Kawhi Leonard on Tuesday in a trade, marking the second time in the last eight years that the Raptors acquired the two-time NBA Finals MVP.

Leonard was at two different stages of his career in these trades, but there's no doubt he's been very valuable in both of those stages.

In the summer of 2018, Leonard was traded along with Danny Green to the Raptors for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a 2019 1st-round pick (Keldon Johnson).

This time around, Leonard was traded for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two 1st-round picks, and one 1st-round pick swap (Picks in the deal could be altered slightly, but this is the initial report).

Today, the Raptors gave up more draft compensation. It can also be agreed upon by most that DeRozan was a much better star for the Spurs to get, compared to Ingram, whom the Clippers got.

As of now, it appears Leonard is the only player the Clippers are giving up, which makes it easier to show the value of Leonard in this deal compared to the other.

Leonard, we could assume, still has several years left in his career with how well he's still playing, but had more upside at the time when the Raptors got him the first time.

The state of the teams who traded Leonard was slightly different, but the Spurs still seemed to get a bigger haul in return for Leonard based on the type of player DeRozan was at the time.
