RANTOUL, Ill. (WCIA) -- Rantoul graduate Mye'Joi Williams first started her throwing career as a freshman in high school. It's a sport she found a lot of success in as she competed in college at Illinois State and Alabama.
After five years on the college ranks, she's still competing with the goal of making it to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
She recently finished fifth place in the shot put at the 2026 USA Track and Field National Outdoor Championships in New York.
Throughout her throwing career, she has felt the support from the Rantoul community every step of the way.
"I get so much support from them, and they've been cheering me on for forever," Williams said. "Since the beginning, since I started college, I see a post that they're watching me." "The whole Rantoul community has come together for me many times."
