Ranieri Crosses Out Every Coach Already Linked to Roma

Roma coach and consultant Claudio Ranieri decided to use the presser before the Lecce game to stop the rumours about their next manager, dismissing all the candidates that have popped up so far (via La Repubblica).

“You can rule out all the potential future gaffer who have already emerged, including Gian Piero Gasperini. He won’t be the choice. The ones I have talked with haven’t come out yet. It’ll be announced when the president decides to. Then, I’ll say what we expect from him and how to help him.”

Ranieri doubled down on his intention to retire despite some pressure to keep helming Roma.

“We’d lose a year if I stayed put. I’m not the future of the team. Our next boss will be, and the sooner he arrives here, the better. Director Florent Ghisolfi and I will compile a list and give it to the owner, who will pick from it.”

“The mood of the fan base is important, but we know that whoever does well will end up being loved. Maybe he won’t be appreciated at first, but I think he will be. Moreover, he’ll have to be aware that we won’t be able to spend a lot in the next two transfer market windows.”

Ranieri also dished on Roma star Paulo Dybala.

“He’s in good shape, and he’s happy with how the surgery went. He just needs to wait now. Our staff will do their best to put him back in the best conditions without rushing things or delays. We’re confident he won’t need six months to return.”
