Looking back, the Texas Rangers are the last team not named the Los Angeles Dodgers to win a World Series. However, since they won their first title in 2023, they have yet to return to the postseason.

But this year seems a little different. The makeup of the division has been lackluster, and outside of the Athletics and the Los Angeles Angels, it's a wide-open race.

Currently, the Rangers are second in the division, just a half-game back of the Houston Astros, but it could have been a lot worse if not for a rather successful week last week.

Rangers fly up the power rankings after a successful week at home

The Rangers had a great opportunity last week, playing two teams with under-.500 records at home. They stacked up against the San Francisco Giants and the Baltimore Orioles, and didn't have many problems.

They took care of the Giants, winning the series 2-1, and did the same thing against the Orioles. With this, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter bumps this team up quite a few spots in his latest power rankings, from No. 18 to No. 12.

"The Rangers have moved to the head of the pack of teams hovering within a few games of .500, and they enter the week half a game back in the AL West and one game up for the third AL wild card. Utility man Ezequiel Duran is having one of the best under-the-radar seasons of 2026, hitting .272/.327/.451 with 22 doubles, 13 home runs and 64 RBI while starting at least seven games at five different positions."

They have another great opportunity ahead of them as they take on the Angels and then the Athletics, two teams who have struggled mightily this season. If they can take care of business, the team could see themselves in a higher position come this time next week.
