Marlins shake up the power rankings after an impressive week originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Miami Marlins got off to a solid start this year. In April, they were just one game away from being .500, but May was a completely different story.
They failed to get much of anything going, leading to an 11-18 month. Pitching injuries have really caught up to this club, but so has a slumping offense at times.
However, June is a new month with new opportunities, and the Marlins are making the most out of it. They are coming off a rather impressive week, winning two series against some high-profile teams.

Marlins shake up the power rankings after an impressive week
Last week, the Marlins opened up with a three-game series against the Washington Nationals, who have been one of MLB's biggest surprises. Miami was able to secure the series sweep, moving on to their weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
They kept their momentum going, winning the series 2-1, making it a 5-1 week. With this, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter has bumped the club up a few spots from No. 25 to No. 18 in his latest power rankings piece.
"The Marlins halted a five-game losing streak last Monday and went on to pick up back-to-back series wins over teams that were slotted inside the top 10 in last week's rankings. The middle infield tandem of Otto Lopez and Xavier Edwards are two of the only 11 qualified hitters in the NL batting over .300 on the year."
Miami will look to keep its hot streak going, but they have a real test in front of it. They take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in a three-game series before taking on the Pittsburgh Pirates over the weekend.
If they can have another successful week, there's no telling how high they could be ranked next week.
