Special teams is going to be a major focus for the Los Angeles Rams in 2026 after that unit cost them multiple games last season, including the NFC title game against the Seattle Seahawks. They took a step toward improving in that area on Thursday by signing a special teams standout and linebacker in free agency.
According to Aaron Wilson, the Rams are signing former Lions special teamer Grant Stuard to a two-year deal worth up to $5.05 million. It's not a big-name addition, but Stuard is a great tackler and plays hard on special teams, contributing in a big way for the Bucs, Colts and Lions in his career.
He entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick by the Bucs in 2021 and has played 83 total games, missing just two in his career in 2022.
In his five seasons, Stuard has made 92 tackles and forced one fumble, making three total tackles for a loss.
Stuard also adds depth at linebacker, though he'll primarily be a special teams contributor for new coordinator Bubba Ventrone.
