The partnership between head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead has been central to the Los Angeles Rams' sustained success since 2017, and assistant general manager John McKay offered a rare inside look at how the head coach and general manager actually work together during an appearance on "NFL Daily."

"They're like brothers in ways — they know how to nip at each other, but they're always in lockstep," McKay said. "You're not afraid to ask questions. You're able to dissent comfortably and say, 'Hey, I might disagree with this evaluation, this move, but here are my reasons behind it,' and know that I can dissent comfortably and not be lashed out at."

That openness, McKay said, extends throughout the organization regardless of title.

"It doesn't matter if you're a scouting assistant or a pro scout or assistant general manager — everyone's voice is going to be heard," McKay said. "Sean does a tremendous job communicating with our staff — this is what we're looking for, and not necessarily always just from a skill set standpoint at each position, but what kind of people we want to fill this locker room."

The result, according to McKay, is a scouting operation that has grown increasingly precise over time. And that's likely why the Rams have been so good at identifying talent in free agency, the draft and in trades.
