The Los Angeles Rams have built a superteam with Myles Garret and Trent McDuffie coming to an already stacked team this offseason in a pair of blockbuster trades.

But the Rams might not be done adding to this roster. They could benefit from adding another wide receiver, especially as they passed on one in the 2026 NFL Draft, and need a better third option behind Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.

The Athletic's Daniel Popper named the Rams the "best landing spot" for free-agent wide receiver Deebo Samuel. The former San Francisco 49ers and Washington Commanders WR would be a great addition as a WR3 in Los Angeles for a few reasons.

"Deebo Samuel. Best landing spot: Los Angeles Rams," Popper writes. "... Sean McVay feels like the perfect coach to get the most of Samuel at this stage. ...He would not have to shoulder a huge load as a true receiver. Instead, Samuel would fill a role that leans into his strengths as a dangerous ball carrier."

Samuel isn't as good as he was during his All-Pro 2021 season with the 49ers, when he posted 1,405 receiving yards on 77 receptions with six touchdowns, and 365 rushing yards and eight rushing TDs on 59 attempts.

But he still has the potential to be a solid option in an offense. If he came to the Rams, he'd slot in as the WR3 behind Nacua and Adams, and see his fair share of work, but not nearly enough to become a focal point of the offense.

Where he could really provide value for the Rams, beyond some gadget plays here and there, is as a much higher upside backup WR if Nacua or Adams were to get hurt.

Currently, Jordan Whittington, Xavier Smith, and Konata Mumpfield would be the backup WRs in Los Angeles. That group isn't one to feel confident in.

But, if the Rams add Samuel, not only would the former 49ers and Commanders WR have a chance to win a Super Bowl on a great team, and play under a fantastic play-calling coach in McVay, but he'd also be a huge upgrade at WR3 for the Rams.

For how good the Rams are, this third WR spot is a real concern. Even with the plan to utilize more two-tight-end sets, the Rams still need a better third receiver.

Samuel would be perfect, as he could provide unique value due to his play-making ability when the ball is in his hands, and also some high-quality WR depth behind an older Adams and, at times, injury-prone Nacua.
