General manager Les Snead is great at finagling the salary cap to fit the Los Angeles Rams' needs. The team continues to be competitive every year despite trades, signings, extensions and drafts.

One thing Snead hasn't really done, though, is use void years to push out salary cap hits into the future. That's been a recent trend by teams recently, and it's helped ease the burden of bloated contracts for a lot of teams.

The Rams, though, rank 18th in salary cap space pushed out over the next six years, according to data from Over the Cap (h/t @sfdata9ers on X). L.A. has $37.6 million allocated for the 2027 salary cap, specifically with void years, which ranks second among all teams that year.

However, the Rams don't have any salary cap space on void years from 2028 to 2032. Only six other teams can boast that feat, and they all don't have any cap space on void years over the next six seasons: The Los Angeles Chargers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots, New York Giants and Chicago Bears.

NFL Teams With the Most Cap Space Pushed Into Future Void Years

1. PHI - $474M (incl. $249M in 2029)
2. CLE - $271M
3. DET - $196M
4. DAL - $180M
5. DEN - $168M
6. SF - $164M

Who accounts for the Rams' void year cap hits? Only two players: Matthew Stafford ($33.6 million) and Davante Adams ($4 million). Stafford has a $9.6 million option in 2028 that is technically attached to a void year, but that might ever come into play.

Stafford and Adams represent a clear reason why the Rams rank so low in overall void year cap hits. Most of their best players are either on short-term deals or still on their rookie contracts. Void years are used to spread out big signing bonuses over time so as now to hamstring any given season's salary cap. The Rams haven't had that problem yet.

That could change soon, though, with the impending deals for Puka Nacua, Kobie Turner, Byron Young, Steve Avila and Jared Verse in the next few years.
