Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead has been one of the most consistent GMs in the NFL.
He's been with the Rams since 2012, and Snead's rosters have won at least 10 games and gone to the playoffs in six of his past eight seasons. The Rams went to the Super Bowl twice during that span and won one of them.
While head coach Sean McVay also played a large role in this success, Snead's scouting and drafting has been a huge part of it as well.
Snead's been so good at drafting that he's the only GM in the past 10 seasons with at least three players who won either Offensive Rookie of the Year or Defensive Rookie of the Year during that span, per the Rams. Aaron Donald (2014) and Jared Verse (2024) won DROY, while Todd Gurley won OROY in 2015.
Donald and Gurley earned a lot of personal accolades throughout their careers, too. Donald won Defensive Player of the Year three times (2017, 2018 and 2020), while Gurley won Offensive Player of the Year in 2017 after finishing second in MVP votes.
Some of Snead's other picks have garnered top-10 votes as well despite not winning their respective rookie award.
In 2023, three of the Rams' rookies finished in top-10. Receiver Puka Nacua finished second in OROY behind Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, while defensive tackle Kobie Turner finished third in voting for DROY in 2023 behind Jalen Carter and winner Will Anderson. Edge rusher Byron Young finished ninth. Cornerback Janoris Jenkins finished fourth in DROY voting in 2012 — Snead's first season as GM.
Snead and the Rams could get another crack at adding rookie awards to their trophy case in 2025. The Rams currently have eight draft picks scattered throughout all three days of the draft, including a rate first-round pick at No. 26. Given his track record, Snead's picks should be among the better rookies in 2025 depending on who he picks and if they play immediately.
