The Raiders lost their punter AJ Cole to an ankle injury last Sunday. The All Pro had his punt blocked by Segun Olubi and his ankle was injured on the follow-thru. He was no longer able to handle punting duties the rest of the game, only returning as a holder on field goals.

In light of this, the Raiders have made a move to add a punter. They have signed former Bengals and Bills punter Brad Robbins.

Robbins spent five years at Michigan and was selected in the sixth round of the 2023 draft. He had a decent rookie season, averaging 44.3 yards per punt with five touchbacks and landing 26% of his punts inside the 20. Granted Raiders fans who have enjoyed Cole's All Pro numbers may not think that's great, but acknowledge you've been spoiled.

Robbins landed on injured reserve out of 2024 camp and was eventually released. He appeared in one game this season with the Bills with four punts.

Cole's injury is a low ankle sprain, so he isn't expected to be down long. And it's possible they keep him active on game day as a holder, even if he's not ready to return to punting right away.

In a corresponding move, the Raiders officially released LB Germaine Pratt. This was a move Pete Carroll announced on Monday.
