During a recent episode of the Craig Carton Show, Carton weighed in on rumors of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes being available to play at the start of the 2026 season.
"Patrick Mahomes is not playing football in September for the Kansas City Chiefs," said Carton, "I know you're a bunch of sheep. I know you're not that bright, but when you tear an ACL, you don't come back in six months. Patrick Mahomes is not going to be running plays for the Kansas City Chiefs in OTAs, period. Stop *********."
Mahomes suffered a torn ACL and LCL late during the Chiefs' Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. After surgery the following day, he's shown drastic improvement in his rehab and is expected to return to the football field ahead of the 2026 season.
"I know he's (Patrick Mahomes) doing a lot of stuff right now. That's what I can give you," said Chiefs head coach Andy Reid during his rookie minicamp press conference," He is throwing the ball, and he does it on his own, so he's not getting in any trouble here."
There continues to be speculation regarding Mahomes' status as OTAs continue this offseason and for months leading up to the 2026 regular season kickoff.
