Harry: why would a team with little salary cap concerns give up on a player with three years of control remaining at a reasonable cost and who plays at a premium position?

if you are the GM, do you really care what the coaching staff is telling you about the on field play? the Jets are getting a new HC and staff next year anyway.

i get the Jets are dysfunctional, but they arent stupid.

this just screams to me that there is something beyond the on field play that is going on

If Q is available, I think Keim needs to be very aggressive. Even if he gives up some value, Q is exactly what our defense needs to plug up our biggest issue: stopping the run. With 3 games left against the Rams and 49ers we desperately need someone to slow the running game.

We can’t keep demanding DHop caliber trades out of Keim, and Kyler‘s championship window is looking like it might be open already.

It’s time to gamble.

I'd have no problems offering a 1st that may very well be 18+ for a guy like Quinnen over a complete NFL unknown in a weird college season.

Your not taking on a big contract. Jet's owe him all his G's which is about half his contract. We would only pick up the remainder which I think is about $5m the next 2 years.

I'm surprised nobody is willing to give up a 1st. You can have 2 cheap years of Quinnen plus a 5th year option or roll the dice with one of these guys that TDN just gave me in their mock draft machine after #19.

Williams is a good player on a really really bad team. He would be a great fit here, and IMO would become a cornerstone of our defense.

Seahawks are terrible at drafting in the 1st round anyway so it would be smart for them.

Would you have traded Hopkins? Teams do crazy things all the time. The Jets made the moves that left them where they are and dumped unceremoniously a better coach than they have. As I posted before, teams are worried about the coming lowered cap. Williams is a bargain, but I think they’re angling for 2 high draft choices, perhaps even in the 2022 draft. You can only trade people other people want. He’s in demand. Would I trade him? No! There’s a thread on this board about trading Peterson. Only the cap would motivate that move considering the Cards are in a playoff run. 2020 is just different. Traditional rules don’t always apply.

I think the Jets are trying to acquire as many picks as possible as the lure for their new GM and coach. They will know going in that the cupboard is bare, but they have probably the #1 pick, as well as numerous other high picks to reload. If they don't want another retread coach who is done in 2 years...they will need to commit to a 3 year complete rebuild...around Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields.

That being said, I wouldn't trade Williams...but if I could get a 1st back I would consider as the Jets are just plain awful.

Could they possibly try to bring in an Urban Meyer or a Lincoln Riley...and basically let them be a mini gm? Meaning lots of input on rebuilding the roster?
