I was wondering who has Norton's Internet Security and whoever does have it, do you have any other software that cleans out viruses? Also, is Norton worth getting?

I have Norton anti-virus, fire wall, and anti-spam. I like their products very much.
My work laptop has McAfee, between the two I like Norton better.
I also use AdAware with no problem.
Given the choice it's Norton for me.

Avoid Norton's system works... It installs a whole bunch of extra programs that you don't need for everyday home computing such as Ghost, speed disk and file saver. All these programs are great if you are going to be using them, but they are a resource and memory hog.

Get Norton Antivirus and use Zone Alarm as your firewall. Norton's firewall get complicated for the novice user...

I use Norton's AV Corp Ed. 7, I update it free off of MajorGeeks, I run AdAware along with it, and I use only the FireFox browser. With this combo, I have had no complaints at all, well only except for I.E.!

I'd like to delete I.E., but an un-install wasn't included for that. I think KaZaa (don't ever use that) infected my I.E. with a worm. Norton's is always great at picking each new version of this worm up, and putting it in quarantine. And, when I used I.E., AdAware always picked up several critical objects to delete, but since I switched to FireFox, no spyware is found. But, I can't stop I.E. from launching automatically at boot up, and it's always hi-jacked somewhere. I just close it down. I wish I could delete it permanently. Does somebody know how to delete that without an un-install????

But, to answer your question, my Norton's Corp Ed. works awesome. And, I have heard that F-secure and Kaspersky works even better, but I just ain't tried those out yet. Don't ever use McAfee, there is a reason why it's offered FREE in many new computers ;)

The only problem and it's a big one is that Nortons is a memory hog,the new Microsoft anti virus is good as is AVG. As for IE launching at boot up,does that mean when you start up your computer your browser starts up or when you click on a link IE opens. You can't get rid of IE but if you don't use it the better you'll be. Also get rid of the viruses in quarantine just to get them out of your system.

When I dial up to MSN, the MSN browser launches good as it's supposed to, but I.E. launches automatically and is hi-jacked somewhere. I just close I.E. out, leave the MSN browser running in the background only, and then I open up FireFox and use it. I want to delete I.E. forever, but cant....

Checkout hijackthis.

You can remove the hijacker with that tool just be careful what you remove.

Also try the Microsoft antispyware Beta. It works pretty well to remove those things and keep them from coming back.

Once you have the hijacker removed you can safely ignore the fact that IE is installed. It is incorporated into Windows so there is not real way to remove it.

There is way to many MSN's and IE's in this quote and that maybe your problem,so MSN is your ISP which means IE will start up automatically correct? If so you need to find a new ISP like Cox so you can surf without having IE lurking in the background.

I had Cox Cable as my IP when I lived in Vegas. I still got the software installed, ethernet card, the whole bit. But, I'm in Tonopah and no Cox service out here in the sticks

But gonna be moving soon somewhere up in the north valley

I downloaded hijackthis months ago off of majorgeeks. I was unsure of what to remove, and what not to remove, so I never did anything with the program as a safety precaution. I need help with that part :help: :D
