The Colorado Rockies have 41 games left in the 2026 season.
Beyond continuing to improve on their 2025 record and build for the future, what do you hope to see for the rest of this season?
That question seems gigantic for an organization like the Rockies. While there are lots of ways to give feedback — the comments are full of advice for the front office and coaching staff on a daily basis — here’s a framework to guide the discussion.
It’s a common feedback method for teachers and workplaces: start, stop, continue.
- What should the Rockies start doing?
- What should the Rockies stop doing?
- What should the Rockies continue doing?
You could focus on a player, a lineup, a call-up, or pretty much anything.
Here’s my take:
The Rockies should start the roster makeover by cutting Kris Bryant. He won’t play again. Pay him, cut him, and move on, learning the lesson of never inking a contract like this ever again.
The Rockies should stop using Michael Lorenzen as a starter. The Rockies have lost his last three starts and gone 9-16 with him on the mound this season. He gives up the game before the Rockies even have a chance. More on this another day.
Finally, the Rockies should continue making roster moves like bringing up Zac Veen and DFAing Edouard Julien. In the month-and-a-half that’s left, try out some new pitchers and prospects. Gather more data to assist in offseason decision-making.
That’s what I think.
