PSG retain UCL crown with penalty shootout win over Arsenal

Paris Saint-Germain have won the 2026 Champions League final on penalties after the scoreline was all square after 120 minutes.


The deadlock was broken early doors in Budapest as Kai Havertz broke forward on the break before unleashing an effort into the roof of the net inside the opening five minutes.

PSG dominated possession from then on, but struggled to break down Arsenal's impenetrable defence for the remainder of the first half.

It was much the same in the second, but PSG's dominance eventually paid off as Cristhian Mosquera was penalised for a foul on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembélé then made no mistake from the penalty spot to make it 1-1.



The two teams couldn't be separated after 30 minutes of extra-time, so penalties were needed to decide this year's winner - the first time they've been required in a decade.

After a tense shootout, in which Eberechi Eze, Nuno Mendes and Gabriel all missed their spot kicks - it was PSG who ultimately emerged victorious.


It was a historic night for the French champions, as they retained their European crown.
