World Cup leader Domen Prevc claimed his second triumph at the Four Hills Tournament with a win in the large hill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany on Thursday.

In the second event of the tournament, the Slovenian soared 143 metres and 141 metres to a total of 303.1 points.

Jan Hörl of Austria was 15.4 points behind in second and team-mate Stephan Embacher was third.

In the qualification round on Wednesday, Embacher broke the hill record in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with a jump of 145.5m.

Defending Four Hills Tournament champion Daniel Tschofenig of Austria was ninth.

Prevc has the chance of becoming only the fourth ski jumper in history to take the title by winning all four events. Only Germany's Sven Hannawald, Poland's Kamil Stoch, and Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi have ever achieved this milestone.

"I had super jumps. Actually, I didn’t celebrate New Year's (Eve) as I was so tired. I just went to sleep at eleven o'clock (2200 GMT Wednesday). I didn't hear the fireworks, so I think I had (some sort) of advantage today," Prevc said.

"I was really well rested and in super shape. Combining all of that led to a super performance. It is amazing, I hope to keep it going."

The next event is in Innsbruck, Austria on Sunday.

Zajc again disqualified

Prevc's team-mate Timi Zajc was disqualified for a second consecutive time at the Four Hills Tournament due to an irregularity with his suit.

Zajc's suit deviated from the standard by four millimetres and he received a red card before the first jump on Thursday.

In the first stop of the tournament in Oberstdorf, Zajc was eliminated due to the same infraction. He had originally finished joint second.

"It can happen but when it happens a second time, I have to say: this shouldn't happen. This is of course very frustrating for the athlete," German ski jumper Karl Geiger said.
